Chocolate: The Answer To Hydrogen Fuel Supplies?

Mention hydrogen as a fuel source and politicians, scientists and techies get that glassed over look in their eyes. Simply put, hydrogen is a perfect fuel. It can be combined with oxygen to produce electricity. Hydrogen is the most comment element on our planet. When used as an energy source, it produces no greenhouse gases or other pollutants. Sounds great, right?

There is just one problem with the idea of using hydrogen as the solution to all of our energy problems. While hydrogen is the most common element on our planet, it is rarely found in a usable form. Instead, hydrogen tends to cling to other elements such as oxygen, which gives us H2O, water. The power required to separate hydrogen from these other elements is shockingly large.

In the United States, Honda has a number of hydrogen vehicles it is testing on the road via some families. The cars work well. Powering them, however, is the problem. The families must take the cars to a specific station at a Honda facility. There, they will find a few hundred feet of solar panels and a hydrogen tank. It takes the system roughly two to three weeks to create enough usable hydrogen for one full tank for the car. Given the fact there are millions of cars on the road, you can see the problem. Yes, there are more efficient methods for conversion than solar power, but nothing remotely efficient enough to create enough usable hydrogen.

In a humorous turn, scientists in the UK have discovered that hydrogen can be produced from the wastes of creating confectionaries such as chocolate. The waste is treated with e-coli bacteria. Yes, e-coli. The bacteria then process the food material and produces gas. Guess what kind of gas is produced? Yes, hydrogen.

Could it be that chocolate will play a fundamental role in a hydrogen fuel future? Could we really be that lucky?

Grandfather Clocks

Among the most revered of all clocks are the majestic grandfather clocks that have been seen throughout older homes and also in places of high regal nature. These clocks have been replicated, but the replicas lack the history that has made the antique grandfather clocks so respected in most circles. These have been something that has been sought after by many collectors and people that have a strong attraction to antiques.

Many people have associated them with a link to their ancestors and this creates a desire to have one in their homes. They may have heard one of these antique grandfather clocks chiming the hours away when they visited their grandparents as a child. Owning one allows them to constantly relive those childhood memories.

One of the areas that most people don't think about when they get one is that they have special needs. They need to be wound up or have their chains pulled to keep the clock running. Some antique grandfather clocks that have been allowed to stop are a challenge to get the pendulum started as they are so old that the gears are tight.

Many that are still in use have usually been in a family for generations and are a reflection of the heritage of the people within the family. There are some people that have never gotten used to the ticking of the clock or the constant chiming that comes with one of these clocks. They tend to have their antique grandfather clocks at the opposite end of the house from the bedrooms to help make it possible for them to sleep.

This is something that many of the people of old may have been wise to as the most popular place for the clocks tended to be in the parlor or some form of formal room on the ground floor while the bedrooms were usually in the upper levels of the homes. This was not always the case, but many times this was the goal that was strived for when there was one of these antique grandfather clocks within the home.

Some individuals have held onto these huge pendulum clocks, yet have had to pay a pretty penny to have them moved and to be preserved. Many times a special person must be contacted to have the antique grandfather clocks maintained to help ensure that they are kept running and in a good state of condition.

Whether you have one in your home is strictly a matter of personal preference. What some families have done with antique grandfather clocks they have inherited is to display them without having them operational. This saves them having to worry about the noise or the cost of maintenance while allowing them the joy of sharing the beauty with their guests. It's a great compromise that is ideal for some.

Growing Tomatoes

Though most people love to start growing their tomatoes from starter plants, they can be started early inside the house. This is the hard way to do it though, and the starter plants you can buy are much easier to deal with. Either way, they should be a certain size before planted outside or they may not grow correctly. These are easy to transplant, but they should be given a lot of space. Each plant will spread as they grow and they need room to get the sunlight they need.

Though most like to have a large garden when growing tomatoes, it can be done in a window box for those who do not have a yard. This might mean only planting one or two plants, but they can still produce a good number of tomatoes for personal use. When growing tomatoes, they have to be watched very carefully. Then they reach a certain size they must be staked. This means a stake or a fence must be put near the plant to hold it up. It might very well grow up the fence. This keeps the tomatoes up out of the soil.

When growing tomatoes, a good fertilizer should be used to ensure the plants remain healthy and that the fruits grow as large as they can. Much like any other type of plant, they should be free from nearby growing weeds, and watered when necessary. Though some use to claim watering during the day would cause sun damage, this is not always true. If a person feels this might be a problem they can water the growing tomatoes after the sun goes down each night. Tomatoes do not have to be red before they are picked, but some prefer to let them ripen on the vine. They can be picked when they begin to turn yellow or orange and then brought in to ripen on the window sill. They taste better if they are not refrigerated.

Life of Leonardo da Vinci

Leonardo da Vinci was a painter, sculptor, architect, cartographer, engineer, scientist and inventor in the 15th century. Yet, despite his genius, he referred to himself as "senza lettere" (the illiterate, the man without letters). Until late in life, he was unable to read, or write, Latin, the language used by virtually all other Renaissance intellectuals, the lingua franca, akin to English today. Nor was he acquainted with mathematics until he was 30.

Leonardo was born out of wedlock but was raised by his real father, a wealthy Florentine notary. He served at least ten years (1466-1476) as an apprentice to Andrea del Verrocchio and painted details in Verrocchio's canvasses. Only in 1478, when he was 26, did he become independent.

He was not off to an auspicious start. He never executed his first commission (an altarpiece in the chapel of the Palazzo Vecchio della Signoria, Florence's town hall). His first large paintings were left unfinished ("The Adoration of the Magi" and "Saint Jerome", both 1481).

Most of the sketches and studies for Leonardo's works of art and engineering are found on his shopping lists, personal notes, and personal expenditure ledgers.

No one was allowed to enter Leonardo's den, where he kept, a number of green and other kinds of lizards, crickets, serpents, butterflies, locusts, hats, and various strange creatures of this nature.

Leonardo's clients were often dissatisfied with his glacial pace, lack of professional discipline, and inability to conclude his assignments. He was frequently involved in litigation. The Confraternity of the Immaculate Conception sued him when he failed to produce the Virgin on the Rocks, an altarpiece they commissioned from him in 1483. The court proceedings lasted 10 years. The head of Jesus in "The Last Supper" was left blank because Leonardo did not dare to paint a human model, nor did he trust his imagination sufficiently. Leonardo worked four years on the Mona Lisa but never completed it, either. He carried it with him wherever he went.

Leonardo's terra cota model for a colossal bronze sculpture of the father of his benefactor and employer, Ludovico Sforza, was used for target practice by invading French soldiers in 1499. The metal which was supposed to go into this work of art was molded into cannon balls.

Leonardo was a member of the commission which deliberated where to place Michelangelo's magnificent statue of David. His cartographic work was so ahead of its time, that the express highway from Florence to the sea - built in the 20th century - follows precisely the route of a canal he envisioned. His scientific investigations - in anatomy, hydraulics, mechanics, ornithology, botany - are considered valuable to this very day. Bill Gates owns some his notebooks containing scientific data and observations (known as the Codex Hammer).

But Leonardo's loyalties were fickle. He switched sides to the conquering French and in 1506 returned to Milan to work for its French governor, Charles D'Amboise. Later, he became court painter for King Louis XII of France who, at the time, resided in Milan. In 1516, he relocated to France, to serve King Francis I and there he died.

Leonardo summed up the lessons of his art in a series of missives to his students, probably in Milan. These were later (1542) collected by his close associate, Francesco Melzi, as "A Treatise on Painting" and published in print (1651, 1817).

Conservation In Your Life

Perhaps one of our societies biggest downfalls, is that we are wasteful. Incredibly wasteful actually. Our lives are spent wasting time, energy, and emotion on people and activities that do nothing for us. Everyone is guilty of wasting, and therefore everyone needs to add an important concept to many areas of their life: conservation.

Our first thoughts about conservation probably take us to picturing a rain forest somewhere in the jungle whose trees are being quickly cut down, or to a village in Africa whose meager water supply is wasted on unnecessary things. These are both situations that could rightly learn from the concept of conservation.

Any true change in the world will only happen when individuals start to change their own lives. So let's begin thinking about conservation as it relates only to our individual lives. Think about the most valuable resources you have at your disposal. Some of the most valuable resources we have are time, energy, mind, and health. It is only as we begin to see our lives as full of natural resource that we can begin the process of conservation and protection of these resources.

If time is one our greatest assets, then we must think about the ways you spend or use that resource. We can practice conservation by looking for ways to use our time more efficiently and wisely. We must also look for ways to practice conservation of our energy. This can be done by taking time for exercise, proper sleep, and relaxing activities. The great resource of the mind needs to be conserved by taking time to enrich it through reading, studying and even writing. We should consider your most valuable resources and look for ways to practice the conservation of each of them.

When you are committed to practicing conservation in your own life, you can begin to look outside yourself and see resources in your neighborhood or city that can be conserved as well.

Guide for Rare Coin Collectors

Coin collecting is one hobby that is both fun and challenging. To help those who are looking for those rare coins, here is a list of hard to find ones that are worth moving "Heaven and Earth" to get.

Gold coins are something of a rare commodity. They were circulated only until 1933, which makes them expensive when they are auctioned. The nice thing about gold is that its value probably will never go down - making it a good investment.

Another rare coin sought by collectors is the Liberty Seated Dollar. These were last produced some time in the 19th century and are considered to be a rare find.

From 1875 to 1878, twenty cent coins were minted. This coin looks very much like a quarter and since its value is very low today, it is a coin worth looking for.

The Barber half dollars are rare coins that were minted from 1892 until 1915 and are collected by people depending on date or type. One of the challenges that occurs when searching for this coin is finding one in good condition.

The 1917 type One Standing Liberty Quarter is another coin worth owning. It was only minted for 2 years and shows the exposed breast of Ms. Liberty. This design created such an uproar that it had to be replaced and was only circulated for a year.

Mercury dimes were produced periodically during the 20th century. The market value of them is $50 a piece.

Green Tea Concentrate

It is common knowledge that green tea is one of the healthiest things that you can consume. The one thing that a lot of people do not understand is how much green tea is necessary. Have you ever wondered? Although drinking green tea alone is good for you, it really just does not have quite enough of the good stuff. If you want to get your full dose of antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals, you really cannot do it without green tea concentrate.

Green tea concentrate is good for almost everything. Not only will it strengthen your immune system, it will give you more energy and vitality. It will even protect you from a wide range of health problems as you grow older. The antioxidants in green tea concentrate will protect you against heart disease, and many other things as well, at least according to some experts. Many people say that since they have been drinking green tea concentrate, they have felt better than ever.

Of course, green tea concentrate is no substitute for the other pleasures of tea. As any avid tea drinker can tell you, the health benefits are only half the picture. Just because you begin to take green tea concentrate, does not mean that you should give up drinking green tea. On the contrary, the only thing that is more wonderful than the effects of green tea on the health of the body as a whole, is its taste.

Peace On Earth? Not Any Time Soon

When asked, "If you could wish for one thing only, what would that wish be?" almost everyone; from beauty pageant contestants, to politicians, to religious leaders, to children, to the average person on the street states, "Peace On Earth" or "An end to all wars". Those wishes, while exemplary, are meaningless. As long as humans exist there will never be peace on earth.

Throughout the history of humankind there has never been peace on earth. Cavemen fought other cavemen over territory, food and even women. Cain killed Abel over God's respect. Gabriel blew down the walls of Jericho. America fought the Revolutionary War for freedom and brother fought against brother in all the civil wars in history. There have always been wars and there will always be wars.

As long as humans can think, there will be wars. Wars over such concepts as freedom, honor, dignity, etc.. Wars over territory, greed, power, prejudice, etc.. War is a part of human nature. For example, every human being is prejudiced. If they don't like some race, nationality or religion, they don't like short or tall or fat or skinny or smart or not smart or loud or quiet people. Some people don't like children, some people don't like old people, some people don't like people with pets, or people that play their music too loud, or bad drivers, or people that believe in God or people that don't believe in God. What is right and proper to some people can be wrong or even enraging to other people.

Religion can not stop wars, in fact many wars are fought over religion (Note: I believe that religion is used as an excuse for war not the real reason for war.). Christians fought against Muslims during the Crusades. Many Extremest Muslim groups want death for all non believers. The Catholic Church killed heretics during the Inquisition. The Nazis killed millions of Jews and then started killing Catholics. The Russians under Stalin killed anyone even remotely religious. Protestants killed other Protestants for being the wrong type of Protestant. Muslims killed Muslims for being the wrong type of Muslim. Don't forget about Atheists (I believe that Atheism is a religion of non belief.), Stalin was an Atheist and wanted to get rid of all religion. History is rife with various types of religious battles.

The main reason for war, however, is the lust for power. The power to make others do and believe as you do and believe. The power to make other people render unto you what you believe is rightfully yours. The power to make other people treat you as you believe you should be treated. The power to gain what you want (ie: money, love, respect, etc.). The power to punish others for doing things that you don't believe they should do. The power to keep other from having things or thoughts that you don't have. In other words, the power to be, in some ways God, to make everyone else in your image with you as their ruler.

As long as people have the ability to think, there will be greed, envy, prejudice, and anger. As long as those things exist, there will be wars. Most people believe, either religious or secular, in the rules set down in the Ten Commandments, but very few people can follow those rules all of the time because our ability to think causes us to want. Wanting causes us to break some or all of the rules. Humans are not perfect. If they were they would not be human.

Benefits of Aloe Vera

When confronted with needing something for your body, you probably have more options than you could ever hope to try. There used to be a few products for each need a person might have, and most tried them all and then chose their favorite. Once they did that, they stuck with that purchase for a long time. Today, you have so many options your head might spin, and each is a just a little different. Those with sensitive skin often have the hardest time finding things to go on the body, but that is when they should think about the benefits of Aloe Vera.

You may notice that lots of products on the market made for the skin have Aloe Vera in them. There are probably more products that tout the benefits of Aloe Vera than almost any other types of additive. The reason for this is that Aloe Vera most often is used to soothe the skin. That means it works well in lotions meant to help with sunburn, and for lotions used for shaving. You can find both men and women's shaving creams with Aloe Vera because it helps soothe the skin after it has been subjected to a razor.

Besides being soothing, the benefits of Aloe Vera include the fact that it is natural. It comes directly from a plant that you can grow in your own home if you want. Some use this on cuts and rashes, and of course, as a way to help with sun and razor burn. Being natural means that you don't really have to worry about any weird side effects. There are some things on the market that soothe, but then they leave the skin red, or create more problems as a result. That is not exactly something anyone wishes to put on their sensitive skin.

If you want to try something to see if the benefits of Aloe Vera would work well with your skin type, there are many different products that you can try. You can usually find anything meant for the skin with this ingredient so that you can see if it is right for you. You can even find gel that is almost completely made from Aloe Vera. That might be a great way to try it out before you spend money on a bunch of other things that may not help you. If you have sensitive skin, more often than not, the best benefits of Aloe Vera are going to be smoother skin that no longer stings after applying shampoo, creams, and lotions.

Silk: A Hard Job For Everyone

Producing silk isn't as easy as it sounds. We'll examine some of what's involved including a look at what typical mass production is in some of the more productive countries such as Japan, China and Thailand.
The first stage of producing silk is hatching the silkworm egg in a controlled environment. This is usually done in an aluminium box. The boxes first have to be examined to make sure they are free of disease. The female silkworm usually lays about 300 to 400 eggs at a time. In an area about the size of a piece of typing paper 50 moths can lay over 20,000 eggs at one time. Each of these eggs is about the size of a pinhead and virtually undetectable to the human eye. After laying the eggs the female dies almost immediately. The male lives only for a short while after this.

The eggs are then tested for disease. If they are disease free they are then raised in a controlled environment. The eggs are fastened to a flat surface by a substance that is secreted by the female. The larvae hatch out of the eggs in about 10 days and are about a half a centimeter long. When the larvae hatch they are placed under a layer of gauze. Afterwards, they are fed a large amount of cut up mulberry leaves. During this time they are left to shed their skin, which they do about four times during the process. Sometimes they'll feed the larvae orange juice or lettuce. The larvae that are fed the mulberry leaves are the ones that produce the finest silk. Each larvae can eat over 50,000 times its size in food.

Once the larvae has reached its maximum length, which is about 7.5 centimeters, it stops eating. This takes about four to six weeks. After this happens it changes color and attaches itself to some kind of object like a frame, tree branch, twig or shrub. Once attached, they start spinning their silk. This goes on for about three to eight days.

This is where the hard work by the silkworms comes in. Over the next few days, the silkworm produces a thread by making a figure eight motion over 300,000 times, during which time it is actually constructing a cocoon. This is a non stop process. The cocoon is made because this is where the silkworm plans to live during what is called its chrysalis stage. During this stage it sleeps and sheds its skin. Also during this stage, which lasts about sixteen days, the silkworm begins the next process of turning into a moth. The problem, for the silk manufacturer, is if the pupae remains alive it will secrete a substance that will destroy the cocoon, thus ruining the silk threads. To prevent this from happening the pupae are killed. This is why activists have such a problem with the process.

The truth is, the percentage of silk that is actually saved in this process is very small but it all counts, as it takes about 80 kg of cocoons to produce just 1 kg of raw silk.

3 Tips On Free Website Marketing

Online marketing is not cheap. You can spend thousands of dollars on Pay Per Click (Google Adwords) and thousands more on buying text links from individual sites.

However, everyone's favorite form of marketing is the free kind. Anything free we like, especially if it helps our websites make more money without increasing advertising costs. Here are three easy and quick ways to market your website at no additional cost.

1.) Free Online Directories.

Listing your website on free online directories is staple in any advertising arsenal. You can find hundreds of directories or search engines where you can register your site. Use all of them you can find. This will give your website more exposure and generate more traffic. The best thing is, it's Free!

2.) Link Exchanges

Link exchanges are a great way of spreading Page Rank, but also of sharing visitors. Most people who like a site will bookmark it. After they have read everything they want, they will read the site that you link to. You get the visitors, and share the visitor through a link exchange.

3.) Business card networking

Free business cards are a marketing prop that are easy to come by. After you have received your free business cards, use them to network with other people. Every time you meet someone, hand them one of your free business cards. After that, ask for one of their business cards in exchange. If they don't have one, make sure you mention what you do, and the website address that is also listed on your free business card. Free business cards make a great networking tool if you will put them to use. Never forget, they are free, and should not be used sparingly. Use them in any situation you can think of. People will take them home and visit your site when they pull your business card out of their pocket.

With these three website marketing ideas, your website will not only be more successful, but you won't have to spend any of your hard earned money on marketing!

5 Great Tips to Decorate Your Modern Home

Today's contemporary designs replicate the classic modernist use of space, while renewing it with the durability and comfort required by the busy new generation. The modern furniture of these days is designed keeping comfort and warmth in mind that calls you to settle down and unwind. Materials used in this type of furniture such as leather, and excellent upholstery enhance the decor of your living room. From its shapely contours and gentle angles to its fine craftsmanship and modern materials, contemporary furniture generates an ambiance of effortless elegance.

When choosing any furniture for your home it has to reflect your life; a definite understated elegance, with fashionable sensibilities and eternal simplicity. Your furniture should reveal your personality and flair. Contemporary furniture stores offer many attractive designs and colors. These designs and colors attract many consumers, and these people usually have, or will soon have, pieces of contemporary furniture in their home. It may be a modish rug, streamlined sofa, or a stylish dining room set, and it is obviously clear that contemporary furniture has turned into a symbol of modern simplicity.

Here are some tips that you can use while decorating your home with elegant contemporary furniture:

1.) Neutral colors are the best choice for modern design. Neutral colors in your bedroom produce a clean and fresh look. They also create the perfect backdrop for a lovely modern painting that will add more charm to your room. Contemporary designs are made with subtle colors to make them completely different from the typical traditional colored rooms.

2.) Efficient lighting is important to prevent eyestrain. You may love to work in front of a window; but it is not the appropriate place for a computer. If you can find a L-shape set up, you can turn to face the window, while your computer screen will face the wall. Consider a contemporary adjustable lamp, or fix halogen lights or spotlights to the shelf or a wall for correct visibility.

3.) In your bedroom, keep the other things to a minimum. Simple nightstands, full-length mirrors, subtle recessed reading lights, a pair of bamboo, wooden, or chrome stools, on which you can keep cushions similar to the duvet cover.

4.) You can arrange your living room furniture in the method of the American Southwest. A stunning Italian leather sofa in front of an exposed brick fireplace in a subtle brown or red color can change the entire decor of your room. That single piece of contemporary furniture will transform the entire set up of your room and make it more attractive and stylish.

5.) While maintaining contemporary design, remain sleek, cool and uncluttered. In a neutral walled bedroom, choose an encrusted look like white and black, or red and black sheets. If you desire a pattern, just remember it has to be bold and cool. In a modern bedroom with neutral walls, bright red on a bed will add elegance and warmth to your bedroom. It will also lighten the room, and formulate it more inviting, just the way you want your bedroom to be.

Chemical Element Silver

Silver, a chemical element, exists in the periodic table with the symbol "Ag" and atomic number 47. Silver is a soft white lustrous transition metal. Due to the fact that it has the highest electrical and thermal conductivity of any metal, silver is widely used throughout the world, used in coins, jewelry, tableware, and photography. Silver occurs in minerals and in free form.

I'm sure if you looked you would have in your household several objects that are made of polished silver. For example: Silver dollars, or Silver cutlery, or photography equipment.

Being just a bit harder than gold, silver is very ductile and malleable. Because of silver's physical properties as a brilliant white metallic luster it can take a high degree of polish. Copper has replaced silver in several instances due to it's hire cost, this is especially true for electrical purposes.

Silver has a number of other notable characteristics:
- Silver has the whitest color of any metal
- Silver has the highest thermal conductivity of any metal
- Silver has the lowest contact resistance of any metal
- Silver has the highest optical reflectivity of any metal

Silver is stable in both pure air and water, but does tarnish when it is exposed to ozone, hydrogen sulfide, or air with sulfur in it. The most common use of silver is as a precious metal and its halide salts. This is especially true of silver nitrate. Silver is also widely used in photography, which has today, become the biggest single industry in which silver is used.

Green Tea Vs Coffee

This world has never had more healthy options than it does right now. Although it seems like the opposite with all the fast food, there truly is a great deal of good stuff to choose from. You simply have to know where to look and what to look for. To be totally honest with you, it's not difficult to eat healthy. At least not from a shopping and preparing point of view. Now, your cravings on the other hand may be a completely different story. It's up to you to curb and suppress with those. But what about other things you can do besides simply consuming the right diet? There are infinite possibilities. Think supplements, vitamins, and herbs. It's time to learn what a daily cup of green tea can do for you. Got your green tea information?

As we all know from the media and contemporary film, the British are a bunch of tea-drinking fools. Okay, so maybe they're not as foolish as the rest of us. We're all chugging down coffee every day. That's not healthy! Even if you don't care for green tea information, you should at least know the scoop on java. Coffee is full of toxins and caffeine. Both of which are terrible for your body. That whole spiel someone gave you about coffee being healthy was bogus. I heard it too, and it doesn't add up. Now, green tea and many herbal teas are quite different. This particular beverage has the ability to clean your kidneys. It flushes out the system in a sense. Many people drink green tea daily for its health benefits. Unlike coffee and soft drinks, it actually cleanses your insides. Note the fact that one beverage has herbs and the other has toxins. That should make things pretty clear.

Have you had you cup of tea today?

Coupons For Online Shopping

There are many different coupons and promotional codes available for the online shopper. The most common types of coupons and promotional codes are those which offer a discount on the total price of an order, and promotional codes which offer free shipping on an order. Both of these offers can be financially beneficial to the shopper if he is able to find these valuable offers. There are a number of different ways in which a shopper may acquire coupons and promotional codes for online shopping.

Many online shoppers receive promotional codes for online retailers in catalogs they receive in the mail. These catalogs may include special offers in an attempt to entice the recipient to make a purchase online. The shopper may receive these catalogs because they have made purchased from the online retailer in the past, or because the online retailer is advertising to new clients.

Shoppers may receive promotional codes offering discounts via email. This is common for shoppers who belong to buyer's clubs organized by the online retailer. These types of clubs typically offer promotional codes to regular customers to reward them for their loyalty. This also is meant to encourage the shopper to continue to patronize the online retailer.

Another way for shoppers to find promotional codes for online shopping is via the Internet. There are websites where members frequently post the codes they acquire via catalogs and emails. This is for the benefit of others who may be seeking a discount on a purchase from a particular online retailer. Shoppers can use these promotional codes as long as there are no restrictions on sharing these codes.

Restrictions on Coupons for Online Shopping

Shoppers who utilize coupons and promotional codes should be aware there may be restrictions on the use of these coupons or promotional codes. Common examples of these restrictions include dates of expiration and required minimum purchase to use the discount. Similar to coupons which are valid at traditional stores, online coupons or promotional codes usually have an expiration date and the discount is no longer valid after this date. Another common restriction associated to offers of free shipping is a minimum required purchase. In these cases the consumer must purchase more than a specific dollar amount from the online retailer in order to be eligible for free shipping. Another example of a common restriction on online coupons or promotional codes is a required minimum purchase necessary to receive a discount.

The following drugs should be taken before embarking on a trip to a country where malaria is prevalent:
Atovaquone/proguanil
Doxycycline
Mefloquine
Primaquine (in special circumstances)

Visit your doctor or health clinic several weeks before travelling as these drugs need to be administered in advance. A good insect repellent should also be applied to exposed skin whilst abroad; preferably one containing DEET (N.N - diethyl meta-toulamide) which is the only ingredient guaranteed to work and is long lasting. There are other repellents on the market for those not wishing to use DEET, but they need to be applied frequently.

What countries are at risk?

Afghanistan. Angola, Brazil, Benin, Burkino, Cambodia, Camaroon, Central African Republic, Chad, China, Comoros, Congo, Djibouti, Equatorial New Guinea, Eritrea, Faso Burindi, Gabon, Ghana, Guinea, Bissau, Indonesia, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Liberia, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mozambique, Niger, Nigeria, Principe, Rwanda, Sao Tome, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sudan, Sri Lanka, Swaziland, Tanzania, Thailand, Togo, Uganda, Vietnam, Democratic republic of the Congo, Zambia.

Antique Cufflinks: What to Know

Antique cufflinks are classic gifts that are appropriate for any special occasion. These magnificent details are truly striking and it doesn't take a trained eye to distinguish between a genuine piece of art and a regular old pair. Following are some examples of the best of the best in antique cufflinks.

Let's start with the beginning of the 20th century. It's very difficult to find a pair of antique cufflinks circa 1900. Quality links were commonly made of 14 karat gold and offered intricate designs. Some were embellished in gemstones or diamonds for a little extra sparkle.

These antique cufflinks will cost a pretty penny, but you can find some for good prices. Look for items that are from the late Victorian era. These links will commonly have designs like olive leaves or scrolls. If you find a pair of these vintage cufflinks at a decent price, grab them. I have a pair from the 1890's with scrolls that look quite sharp on the cuff.

You might also want to check out antique cufflinks circa 1910. Platinum was the precious metal of choice during this era in the new century. The base precious metal is sometime embellished with yellow gold around the edges and rich engravings in the center.

You can have an easier shopping experience if you look for vintage jewelry for men made during the 1920's. This era offered many different looks in style and fashion. Its fresh attitude is reflected in the antique cufflinks designed during this turbulent decade.

These items are relatively inexpensive compared to the men's vintage jewelry from the late Victorian era but they are every bit as interesting. The 1920 designs are more sleek and are typically about half the price of their earlier counterparts.

Surprisingly, the Art Deco geometric designs from the mid 1930's are quite expensive. These antique cufflinks are quite stylish and a good pair can run close to 1,000 dollars. While this is a great deal of money, you may find that the looks of the Art Deco vintage jewelry is more inline with you tastes, so well worth the investment.

All and all you really just have to consider two things: your tastes and your pocketbook. Of course, buying something like a pair of antique cufflinks is a good investment so you really can't lose in the long run.

Audio Books - THANKYOU !

I love to read. The problem was finding time to sit down and read. Working as a Security Guard driving Petrol, I had gotten a FM transmitter form my iPod. The problem was listening to the same music all the time. Then it occurred to me that I could be listening to all the books that I was wanting to read.

I went through a five book series in a week, and then started another. Meanwhile my library of audio books increased. I now owned several series that I had wanted to buy. I could listen to them even though I had no time for reading, and my hands were busy.

Remember, every problem is an opportunity. If you need you hands for a thousand and one tasks and you have no time to read. Put in some earphones and off you go.  Enjoy all the books that you have wanted to read, and get all your many tasks one at the sametime.

So if you love to read and simply don't have the time to start or finish a book , do try to make your day a bit more enjoyable and get yourself some audio books. Whether you purchase them from a bookstore, or "iTunes", join a Audio Book Site like "Audible" to get them at a discounted price, or find them at your local library, you'll find that it is worth every single penny.

The Benefits of Coupons

One great irony of life is that people find it so easy to spend money and yet, they find it doubly hard to save money.

What people do not know is that they can easily save more money even on their daily expenses if they just know how to do it. If they were really wise consumers, they would definitely take advantage of freebies and discount items that can absolutely cut their expenses almost in half.

One of the best examples is to use money saving coupons.

The problem is that many people are still not aware of the benefits that coupons can give. They contend that these freebies just offer such a little amount of money and that they can be better off without it.

For those who are not yet fully aware of the benefits they can derive from these coupons, and what they can do in order to save more money, here is a list of some of tips on how to use these coupons:

1.)  Look for the right places

If you are not yet aware of the right places where you can get excellent coupons, try to look in your local newspaper, especially the Sunday editions. It's one of the best places where you can get discount coupons.

Several different establishments provide discount coupons to entice consumers to buy their products. That's why they use the paper to distribute their freebies.

2. Shop online

Online businesses also provide coupons. What people do not know is that online discount coupons provide more money saving percentages than what the newspapers can give.

Best of all, it is so easy to accumulate discount coupons. All you have to do is to sign up for the online business, and you can easily get some of their freebies.

3. Coupons are great money savers

The advantage of coupons is that they can cut your bill down by almost 50%. Using coupons can definitely save you more money than what you have expected. So, for those who do not know this yet, try to cut more coupons and start saving.

Avoid Impulse Spending

Answer these questions truthfully:

1.) Does your spouse or partner complain that you spend too much money?

2.) Are you surprised each month when your credit card bill arrives at how much more you charged than you thought you had?

3.) Do you have more shoes and clothes in your closet than you could ever possibly wear?

4.) Do you own every new gadget before it has time to collect dust on a retailer's shelf?

5.) Do you buy things you didn't know you wanted until you saw them on display in a store?

If you answered "yes" to any two of the questions above, you are an impulse spender and indulge yourself in retail therapy. It can be a very bad thing.

It can prevent you from saving for the important things like a house, a new car, a vacation or retirement. You must set some financial goals and resist spending money on items that really don't matter in the long run.

Impulse spending can not only put a strain on your finances but your relationships, as well. To overcome the problem, the first thing to do is learn to separate your needs from your wants.

Advertisers blitz us, hawking their products 24/7. The trick is to give yourself a cooling-off period before you buy anything that you have not planned for.

When you go shopping, make a list and take only enough cash to pay for what you have planned to buy. Leave your credit cards at home.

If you see something you think you really need, give yourself two weeks to decide if it is really something you need or something you can easily do without. By following this simple solution, you will mend your financial fences and your relationships.

5 Reasons to Have A Vending Machine In Your Business

Should you install vending machines in your office, shop or leisure club? If you're considering adding a vending machine to your premises, but you're not sure if it's a good idea, just think about the following:

1.) Financial savings

If you're running a canteen or cafe in your business, you're using valuable space and money. Paying full- and part-time staff, buying or leasing equipment and supplies can become costly. Many companies, particularly those with multi-site operations simply can't afford to have a canteen inside every building. They make large cost savings by installing vending machines instead. The Space can be re-used for production or additional office area, and staff costs are considerably lowered.

2.) Time savings

Research by the NOP suggests that an average sized business with around 50 employees, loses around $85,000 per year in hours spent making their own drinks rather than using a vending machine. Installing machines that dispense tea, coffee and other drinks, or snacks and other foodstuffs, reduces the amount of time that staff spend away from their desks. This makes them more productive for your business.

3.) Additional revenue stream

If you use a vending operator, the machine and its contents are the responsibility of the operator. All you have to do is provide the site. In most cases, you will receive a percentage commission of the machine's earnings which give you an additional revenue stream.

4.) Customer service

If you operate a retail or leisure outlet, a vending machine could make a real difference to your customers. By fulfilling their needs, whether it's an energy drink or a quick snack, gives you an edge over the competition and may encourage return visits.

5.) Easy maintenance

Choose to run your vending machines through a vending operator and you're choosing a really easy way to provide a service to your employees or customers. The operator is responsible for maintaining and re-filling your vending machines, and for repairing and servicing them during the period of your contract. Your only responsibility is to provide the site and ensure that users don't misuse the machine. This allows you to make vended goods available without the tiresome maintenance duties that go with them.

Using Biomass Power for Our Electrical Needs

Biomass: this term is used to describe natural, biological materials that can be used as fuel to produce energy.

Biomass is a broad term. It includes fuels of many different types, such as garbage, landfill gas and ethanol. The electricity biomass produces can be used to power things from industries to homes. Biomass energy can definitely help cut down on the world's use of fossil fuels, and other harmful sources of energy.

The most common types of biomass can be grouped into one of three categories.

1.) Wood (and related) products. These are things like lawn clippings, wood chips, leftover wood scraps from lumber production, and dead trees or leaves.

2.) Garbage products. These are items within garbage that people generate. They can be used to burn as fuel, or landfill gases, which are produced when garbage rots (methane).

3.) Ethanol and biodiesel. These are both fossil fuel replacements. They are made from either corn or other crops (ethanol), vegetable oil, and animal fat (biodiesel). All of these can result in biomass fuel to produce electricity.

The landfill gas, also known as Bio-gas or methane, is often collected by landfill owners or farmers to be used as fuel. The burning of this fuel can either power a generator for electricity or be used to heat property.

The wood related products can be pressed into pellets, and then used as fuel for heat and electricity generation.

Ethanol and biodiesel are of even more interest in the world climate these days, as they are both used to power cars and other vehicles. Ethanol and biodiesel are much cleaner burning than fossil fuels, and less expensive to produce since they come from waste which is easy to find in our modern world. Both types of fuel are also biodegradable, making them safer for the environment. While neither fuel can be used in all types of cars at present, car manufacturers are working to make more vehicles that will run on these alternative fuels.

While the idea of using biomass as a power platform may seem far-fetched to some, but I can assure you it is not. In my own town there is a biomass power plant. Buy burning wood chips they produce heat. Water is heated and produces steam. The steam turns the turbines and produces power. As you can see it is quite simple to produce electricity from biomass fuels.

Biomass Electricity as an energy platform is definitely a alternative worth exploring more.

Spend Wisely to Save Money

Have you ever noticed that the things you buy every week at the grocery and hardware stores go up a few cents between shopping trips? Not by much, but just a little each week. As you watch over the course of several weeks, they continue to creep up and up.

All it takes for the price to jump, is a little hiccup in the world wide market. Note the price of gasoline as it relates to world affairs.

There is a way that we can keep these price increases from impacting our personal finances in a big way That is by buying in quantity and finding the best possible prices for the things we use and will continue to use everyday. Products that will keep just as well on the shelves in our homes as it does on the shelves at the grocery or hardware stores.

For instance, dog and cat food costs about 10% less when bought by the case, than it does when bought at the single can price. If you wait for close out prices you will save even more.

Set aside some space in your home, and make a list of things that you use regularly which will not spoil. Any grain or grain products will need to be stored in airtight containers.

Then set out to find the best prices you can get on quantity purchases of such things as bathroom items, and dry or canned food.

You will be surprised at how much you can save by buying a twenty pound bag of rice, as opposed to a one pound bag. Don't forget that it must be kept in container that is secured against vermin.

You can also save money on single items by finding low prices online. By comparing prices from stores with online prices you will be able to find good deals on a number of articles. Personally I can tell you that i do alot of my shopping online. I have been able to save hundreds of dollars on items such as clothing, books, and electronics. The point is to, as they say "Shop Around". If you don't need something until next week, look for it online, you'll probable find a better price online, then in a store.

How to Find People For Free

Here are a couple techniques to get you started.

People are creatures of habit. Even when they are willing to give up their names, and move far away, they rarely are willing to change who they are. A bowler will still want to bowl. If you know or suspect which city he may have moved to, you could call bowling alleys to get information on any new league members Think of all their habits, and how these might be used to predict their behavior and location.

Most of the time, people you try to find aren't really trying to hide. At least, they aren't trying very hard. Maybe they left town and use an unlisted phone number. However, they probably haven't changed their name. How do you find them quickly? Here are some techniques.

"Skip Tracing Techniques"

"Skip tracing" is tracking down people who have "skipped" out of town. The basic things you start with are sending mail to any addresses, or calling any phone numbers you have for the person. When you send a letter, pay a little extra for "address correction." You will receive a card from the post office to with any forwarding address they have on file for the subject.

When you call their phone numbers, if you get an answer, you of course want to ask for the subject. If they have moved, you want to get any information you can from the person on the line. Use basic phone pretexts for this.

"Phone Pretexts"

These are useful stories. They can be as simple as "Hi, this is Dave. I'm an friend of John's. Do you know where I can find him?" However be prepared for a question or two, like. "Where do you know John from?

Get any information you can while you have a person on the phone. They may refuse to give you an address or phone number, but then mention the city that the subject has moved to. Ask them who else might help you, and call those people. Using the phone is the easiest and fastest ways to find people for free.

Paradigm Shifting Technology

The pace that Technology effects and even changes our lives has accelerated. Today's vernacular would describe it as a paradigm shift happening twice as fast. The technology of today, will be obsolete in a short amount of time. Using information technology as an example, we can see that in less than one year, progress can double.

Information technology has many more facets than computers, software and electronics. Researchers continue to make vast strides in health care issues as well. New Medicine and drugs are being discovered all the time. They are discovering not just how drugs work, but actually why they work.

Scientists continue working with the human genome. This is our genetic code. Imagine, the discoveries they are making about what makes the cells of the body work. The genome projected was completed several years ago, and that is why we can move so much faster now. In the first three years after the project was completed, the amount of genetic data that was decoded was doubling every ten months. The price of decoding a gene base pair declined to less than a penny today. This was a dramatic cost reduction since the cost in 1990 was $10.00 a pair.

It took researchers fifteen years to sequence the HIV virus. They were able to sequence the SARS virus in one month, and now are capable of sequencing a virus in just a few days. We can now develop models on major diseases.

When the baby boomers were young, man went to the moon, and technology, especially space technology became a paradigm shift. Now the shift has changed and the future is here. Where do you think the future shifts will occur?

Software Discounts

Some of the best software discounts are found online. People use online search engines to find creative ways of searching out the best deals on software packages that are sold below the manufacturer's suggested retail price. These searches can find outstanding software discounts that reward you for buying in quantity. On some occasions you may even receive a free software license in appreciation.

People, who are going to school or are working as instructors at colleges and universities, get software discounts. This is because the manufacturers recognize the need for instructors to have the latest technology available to them. As schools typically purchase a large amount of software at one time, the discounts are provided on the software product itself, and the software license to use it.

These discounts, that are afforded to educational institutions of higher learning, give college officials the power to purchase several types of software packages at one time. They are also afforded the opportunity to renew it on a pre-set schedule. True customer service oriented manufactures are one of the best software discount providers that educators will ever have.

Search engines provide people with unique features, that let them sort through the vast maze of software products, to find discounts that are perfectly formulated to work with their present operating system. The discounts that resellers get from carefully negotiated contracts with software manufacturers, are passed on to the consumer.

Many of the discounted software packages are not centered on the computer business Industry at all. These discounted software programs allow people to work independently from home in various industries. There are travel agents that find discounts on programs that will help them connect to travel booking sites all over the world.

There are writing programs that journalists routinely use to write their latest news story's. Discounts are also offered that are meant to help small business owners stay in business. The software programs will cover all facets of their business operations. People search for many software deals on the internet and find them.

People still expect and demand software discounts because their time and money are valuable items to them. Unusable software products will waste their time. They actually require more time and money because they have to be replaced. Small business owners learn quickly to read reviews, because inoperable software could put them out of business.

Carpool: Save The Environment and Money

Are you tired of traffic jams, increasing air pollution and the ever increasing price of fuel? Do you ask yourself, want can I do about it?

You can do something about it, by forming or finding a carpool. A carpool is an arrangement where people share their vehicles with other carpooler's and commute together. So look for websites that have listings for carpools in your area. A good example of a carpool site is "http://indimoto.com" an auto classifieds site which was also India's first carpool matching site. The objective behind the site was to build an auto classifieds site where users can buy and sell cars and bikes, auto products and services. They could search for auto events, auto clubs and carpools.

Carpools do make a lot of sense. By sharing fuel costs you save money, vehicle maintenance cost & parking fee. Saving fuel and reducing harmful exhaust gases reduce the impact on the environment, while also diminishing traffic congestion. You also expand your network of friends and contacts. So it not only saves you money, and the environment, it provides you with a social interaction as well.

With air pollution levels on the rise in our cities, manic traffic jams and the increased burden of fuel prices on commuter's wallets, there are only two alternatives to commuters. First public transport, and second carpools. Public transport, however, is not a logical alternative for many urban commuters. This is where carpools come in. Carpools are a great way of bring people together and providing a better way forward to the troubles commuter's face daily.

The Need For an Alternative Fuel Source

Using alternative fuel sources is not just a matter of environmental responsibility. It is good sense, and sound planning. Although most of us are in denial, the fossil fuels which form the backbone of our world economy are dwindling quite rapidly, even as we go about our daily business in our cars.

Although few Americans use an alternative fuel source to commute, those who do will soon be have an advantage. If your alternative fuel source is your feet, whether through walking or bike riding, you are already at an advantage, paying nothing to move from one place to another and training your body at the same time. However, even if you can not get around solely on your feet, it makes sense to start planning your life around alternate fuel sources now, before it becomes too late.

In addition, many areas will probably not be adequately prepared to work with an alternative fuel source. There may be no where to even refill your biodiesel cars, and that will make things quite hard. People will have become so used to the convenience of their gas powered vehicles, that they will not be able to really get around this formidable-looking problem. But if you plan your life around an alternative fuel source, you should have no trouble adjusting.

The most fool-proof alternative fuel source is your own two feet, but since not all of us have athletic bodies or enjoy walking hours under the sun and snow, the real solution is public transport. If you live in an area where public transportation is already in place, and runs on electric vehicles, then congratulations. I bet that your local economy will suffer far less damage from any fuel crisis.

The public transit, driven by an alternative fuel source, will be able to pick up the extra passengers who have been forced to suddenly give up their cars, and there will be minimal inconvenience. If you have an electric vehicle, you will similarly be in a good position, as electricity will always be a good alternative fuel source. No matter how bad a fuel crises might get, the government will never let the national power grid collapse. Therefore, electricity makes a lot of sense.

Biodiesel: The Alternative Fuel

Biodiesel is a fuel made from vegetable oils. Soybean and rapeseed oils are the used most commonly. Other vegetables oils such as mustard, palm oil, hemp, and jatropha have been tried, and seem to show a lot of potential. These are listed or called Virgin Oil Feed stock.

Then we have the waste vegetable oils which are byproducts from animal fats like tallow, lard and yellow grease. It is suggested by many that waste vegetable oil is the best source of oil to produce biodiesel.

Biodiesel is an environmentally friendly alternative to the petroleum diesel we use today. Petroleum diesel has higher emissions that pollute our towns, cities and environment.

Biodiesel however is old news in one sense. Dr Rudolf Diesel, the inventor of the diesel engine, showed off his newly invented engine at the Paris exhibition. The engine was running on peanut oil.

During a speech, at the same exhibition, he was quoted as saying "the diesel engine can be fed with vegetable oils and will help considerably in the development of the agriculture of the countries which use it." So it seems that the diesel engine was designed to run on biodiesel fuel right from the beginning.

Biodiesel is a clean burning fuel which would reduce the carbon dioxide emissions of today's vehicles by up to 100%. Biodiesel is also biodegradable and non-toxic.

The use of biodiesel is definitely becoming more popular in America and the UK, more and more petrol stations are beginning to sell biodiesel in the UK. Even celebrities like Willy Nelson, is not only using it to run his tour buses, he has also opened a chain of petrol stations to sell biodiesel too.

So to summarize some of the benefits of using biodiesel:

1. Environmentally friendly fuel.
2. It is a clean burning fuel.
3. It will reduce carbon dioxide emissions.
4. Biodiesel is made from waste vegetable oils.

Shop Nicely and Save Money

Every day, telemarketers, mail order catalogs, and commercials tell us wonderful words, such as clearance sales, zero interest payments, and discount coupons. All geared to stop us from saving and makes us to spend on items that we really don't need.

How can you spend wisely and have more savings. You should teach yourself to be a disciplined and intelligent buyer whereby you can accumulate savings instead of credit card debts. Ask yourself:

1. Is this item something I can't do without?
2. Do I have something at home similar to this which I can use instead?
3. How long do I need to work to pay for this?
4. Do I just want this or do I really need it?

These are some simple strategies that can help you save. When you buy on sale you save more, so ask the store when the item will be on sale. Schedule your purchasing of large items during the time when the store has annual sales. This will generate you a saving of as much as 60% off the regular prices.

You should cut out coupons and use them. This will give you as much as 20% savings. When there is a sale on things that are consumed easily such as pasta, stockpile on such items. You will have even more savings if you take the advantage of rebates, and use the rebates given. Always use a frequency shopper card if you can, as this entitles you to rebates, freebies, and discounts. Always prepare a shopping list before you buy or make duplicate purchases.

Remember "A penny saved is a penny earned" and following this will give you added savings.

The Emerald Buddha

The Emerald Buddha is a figurine of a sitting Budha, that is the is the palladium of the Kingdom of Thailand. The Buddha is made of green jade, suprisingly not of emerald. Clothed in gold it is approximately 45 cm tall. The Buddha is kept in the Chapel of the Emerald Buddha, which is located on the grounds of the Grand Palace in Bangkok.

Legend tells us that that the Emerald Buddha was created in Pataliputra, India, which is now the city of Patna, in 43 BCE by Nagasena. Some great historians beleive that it actually belongs to the Chiang Saen Style of the 15th century. The legend says that, it remained in Pataliputra for 300 hundred years, until it was taken to Sri Lanka to save it from a civil war. Then in 457, King Anuruth of Burma sent out orders to Ceylon to ask for the Emerald Budha and Buddhist scriptures. These actions were taken by the king, to try and support Buddhism in his country. This request was granted. However, the ship that was carring the Buddha to Burma, became lost in a storm and ended up in Cambodia. The Buddha made it's way through several lands after that: Ayutthaya, Kamphaeng Phet, Lao and finally Chiang Rai. It was finally in Chiang Rai that the ruler of the city hid it.

It wasn't until 1434 that sources indicate that the statue resurfaced in a temple in Northern Thailand. The story about the discovery is as follows: "lightning struck a pagoda in a temple in Chiang Rai, after which something became visible under the stucco. The Emerald Buddha was dug out and the people thought the figurine was made from emerald, hence its current name."

Even though the Buddha is just a simple jade statue, it is dressed with garments that are made of fine gold. The Buddha's clothing are changed by the King of Thailand, to celebrate the changing of seasons. This occurs three times a year: At the 1st Waning of Lunar Months 4, 8, and 12.

8 Tips to Save Money on Groceries

An average family's grocery bill is one of the higher numbers in the family budget. One thing to remember is, there can be a distinct difference in what each family spends on their groceries. It depends on many factors, such as whether they buy name brand, more meat, etc.

The good news is that this allows for a large amount of savings, so long as we decide to be frugal with our shopping. Following these few simple tips will have you well on your way to saving a few bucks.

1.) Make a meal plan. You'll know exactly what you need to get from the store before you go.

2.) Watch for specials and coupons, then plan your meals around them.

3.) Make a list and stick to it. If it's not on the list, don't buy it.

4.) Don't shop when you're hungry. This way you won't be tempted to buy things you don't need.

5.) Shop alone. You can count on your bill being higher when you bring your spouse or children.

6.) Only buy things you know you'll use. For example, if your family doesn't like broccoli, don't buy broccoli in the hopes that they'll eat healthier this week.

7.) Keep your eyes on the items on the bottom shelf where the prices are lower.

8.) Buy store brands when the quality is the same. Most of the time, it's actually the same product in a different package.

It's pretty easy to be frugal once you realize how much money you'll actually save with these simple steps. Keep a log of your grocery bills. That way you can see how much of a difference in your bill you are making.

Shopping for Discounted items is a great way to cash in on the special offers made by companies and stores offering a whole range of products and services. Discounts range from gift certificates, bargain sales, clearances, all the way to free shipping offers, and free product offers. Also available are last minute hotel booking deals and online reservations. People who make their ticket reservations online benefit from a discounted rate as compared to people who book their tickets the traditional way by standing in queues at ticket counters. This is a great way to benefit from discounted rates.

One can purchase almost any kind of product , online or offline. Because of the rising competition in the consumer market today, companies want to gain a higher market-share. This is why they offer discounts on all sorts of products and services. Discounts, are however, usually seen on products like food items, grocery items, clothing, consumer durables like mobile phones, electrical appliances, digital cameras, MP3 players, DVD players, services like body massaging, gym memberships, club and resort memberships, face toning, weight loss, etc. Some companies offer discounts on bulk purchases.

While discounted shopping may be available in online stores, gift certificates are usually less available on the internet. Besides, these are not seen on the official homepage of the company often. It is usually an online dealer who offers a lot of discounts.

Benefits of Discount Shopping:

By far, one of the biggest benefits of discount shopping is, of course, the kind of savings you can make on your purchases. Discount Shopping offers you cheap, cut-off prices on even brand name products and services that you would otherwise have to spend a great deal more on. It could be, you could get that otherwise expensive birthday gift, dream camera, high definition TV, for a much smaller price. With discount shopping, there is no compromise on quality or after sales services.

Be sure to avoid scams, though. Get a clear picture of the actual price. Compare the discounted rate, inclusive of the shipping price, taxes and duties, etc. against the market price. Read the fine-print very carefully. Another important thing to remember is to make sure that you read and understand the vendor's return and money-back policies. Be sure to read these terms very carefully.

In the end all it really takes is a couple of minutes to search, and you could soon be saving a lot of money and time, purchasing online. Do your research and act wisely to obtain the benefits.

6 Tips On How To Avoid Scams Online

People who are eager to start a home business are often new to the Internet and filled with hope. Unfortunately, that can make them easy prey for con artists. The lure of easy money can serve as a difficult lesson for those who fall for it. If you are looking at job opportunities online, it's important to watch out for scams and get-rich-quick schemes. Many scams are cleverly packaged, making it hard to determine the legitimate work opportunities from the fraudulent ones.

"If you are looking at employment or business opportunities online, watch out for scams," Tamsevicius says. "Many get-rich-quick schemes are cleverly packaged, making it hard to sift legitimate work opportunities from the swindles." Common cons include Nigerian letter schemes asking for money, pyramid schemes, Ponzi schemes, and "work at home" offers that involve stuffing envelopes or assembling crafts.

Here are some tips for sidestepping scams:

1. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is! Any offer that promises to make you rich overnight with a business that works while you sleep is a rip-off. Watch out if a company promises large profits for little or no work, or claims no experience is necessary. If anyone can do it, why should you pay to learn about it? For that reason, multilevel marketing (MLM) has gotten a bad rap. Granted, there may be some legitimate money-making programs out there, but there are also a large number of over hyped, over promising, under delivering scams too.

2. Be especially wary of any company that requires an initial investment to get involved.

3. Be leery of anyone who uses hard-sell tactics or pushes you to sign up right away. Take your time to think about opportunities. If you do find a program that intrigues you, do yourself a favor and check it out first.

4. Double-check the reputation of a company before signing up for its program. Get at least three references from people who are currently involved in the program to get the real story. Find out what strings are attached, how much money it will take to get started, and what the "fine print" says. Also find out how long they have been in business. Ask what their experience has been working with them. How long have they been in business? What kind of training will the company provide? Do they have a good support system for their sales representatives?

5. Read the fine print before you sign anything. If you don't understand an agreement, have a lawyer or an accountant review it before signing.

6. Make sure there is an out. Before you sign ANYTHING, find out what the procedure is to withdraw if you change your mind and what, if anything, it will cost you. If you have to pay startup fees, pay with a credit card rather than cash or check. That way if things go awry you can cancel payment or dispute your credit card charges.

HAVE YOU BEEN VICTIMIZED BY SCAM?

If you fall victim to a scam let others know so that you can protect them from falling prey too! If you don't know how, visit your local government website for information on registering fraud complaints.

The Melting Arctic Ice Cap And Its Impact On Animals

The arguments for global warming can sound a bit vacuous when discussing temperature changes of only one degree. The impact of the melting Arctic ice cap on animals is much more tangible.

There is little dispute that the Arctic ice cap is melting. Since 1979, it has definitively shrunk over 20 percent. The issue amongst most people debating global warming is whether this is because of global warming or just a natural cycle of the planet.

From a common sense point of view, it is difficult to imagine global warming is having no impact on the ice caps. The rising temperature of the planet would seem to be a common sense cause of the melting ice. Alas, common sense rarely seems to be used in debates these days.

As the cap melts, the impact on animals in the area is readily apparent. The primary problem is the reduction of habitat. Polar bears are the most obvious animals suffering from this situation. The habitat of the polar bears is the ice flow areas around the edges of the caps. As the caps melt, the flows are disappearing and pulling back to the extent that there is no ice on the shores. The extent of the melting is such that a Russian ship was able to reach the North Pole in 2005 without the use of an ice breaker. This lost habitat is pushing the polar bears to the edge of extinction. Various estimates put the total population at 20,000 and dropping.

There are, however, positive developments for some species. Recent empirical evidence shows the various seal populations of the Arctic are exhibiting growing population numbers. The exact reason is unclear, but they are appearing more and more in southern regions of the cap, which leads to the conclusion that their habitat is actually expanding.

The receding caps are also opening up extensive new habitats for fish. The melting ice is full of nutrients and fish migration to the new opening seas is astounding. Pink salmon, in particular is being seen spawning in rivers far to the north of their usual spawning grounds.

In general, the impact of the melting Arctic ice caps is a mixed situation. The polar bears certainly don't see anything to be happy about.

What Is Chai Tea?

Chai is a great spice milk tea from India that is quickly becoming extremely popular in the West as people discover it at coffee and tea houses everywhere. The ingredients of chai are touted to have healthful benefits. It is typically prepared by boiling loose leaf tea and adding milk, sweetener, and various spices depending on personal preferences. In India, chai is more popular than coffee. There are many different versions of the tea, which have been a staple in India for hundreds of years. Chai tea can be enjoyed hot or cold, morning or evening, summer or winter. There are instant chai mixes and chai concentrates that just require milk to be added. For vegans or the lactose intolerant, soy milk is a great substitute for the whole milk and cream that traditional chai tea recipes call for. Low-fat versions are also popular for anyone looking to avoid the extra calories.

The most common method of making chai tea is to boil water with sugar, molasses, or honey with one or more spices including cardamom, cinnamon, ginger, star anise, peppercorn, cloves, nutmeg, chocolate, cocoa, vanilla, licorice, or saffron. Then add the tea, milk/soy/cream, and simmer a bit longer. Once it's done, just strain and serve. The key to making good tea is to leave the tea leaves in the boiling water long enough, but not so long that the tea is bitter. If you're a bit intimidated, check out this recipe for a dry mix for instant chai tea that you can keep on hand for those frequent chai tea emergencies, and also a great gift for any tea enthusiast. Oregon Chai Tea, found online at www.oregonchai.com, features a delicious Indian chai made from concentrate, to nourish your yin and elevate your yang with this creamy blend of tea, spice, and spirit.

It's easy to find lots of great recipes online, including traditional chai, and other quick and easy variations of spiced chai tea that you can make at home. Odie.org features recipes collected from around the world, as well as chai brewing hints and tips, and a chai ingredient glossary. Choose a traditional chai like Chandra Chai Moon Tea, or a quick and easy chai like Romantic Chai, and if you're looking for tasty treats, mix up some chai cookies or a chai milkshake. If you're in a hurry and don't have time to whip up your own, Starbucks features a tasty Tazo chai tea latte, which is a steamed blend of rare black teas, milk, exotic spices and comforting vanilla. Tazo Teas are also available from the company's website at www.tazo.com.

Coupons: Cash In And Save

Many people are able to save 50% or more off their grocery bills by shopping with coupons. It takes more than just cutting the coupons out of the newspaper, or stashing them in a file box when they come in the mail. In order for you to get maximum savings from your coupons, you have to be organized. You also have to know what you need, and most importantly, what you will use.

First, get organized. Remove circulars from the newspapers and put them in a separate place. Do the Same thing with coupons that come in the mail, or that you have printed from online. Designate a specific time once or twice a week to do your coupons. When that time comes, they'll all be in the same place. Clip the ones you need and will use. Do keep the ones you won't, like pet food if you don't have pets, or brands that your family doesn't like. Give these to someone else that can use them. Do not use them yourself. Saving money on something is useless if your family won't eat it, and will end up in the trash anyway. Then sort them by category. It is best to do this in order of the way things appear in the store you go to for the bulk of your shopping. There are a million and one coupon organizers and file caddies available. It doesn't have to be fancy or expensive, just find one that works for you.

Most people will plan their shopping in the following order. First they plan their meals. Second they look through the circulars for items on sale. Third they pull their coupons. If you want to use coupons more efficiently, go backwards. If chicken breasts and stuffing are on sale and you have a coupon for stuffing, then chicken breasts and stuffing should be one of your meals that week. Plan your meals according to the savings available. Of course, for things that are nonperishable, or can be frozen and you have the space for them, can be stocked up on anytime. For these items, buy when they are on sale and you have a coupon for double savings.

Start a price book comparing the regular per unit price at different stores of items that you buy on a regular basis. This way you can be sure you are getting the best deal. This may take some time, but will save you big bucks in the long run.

One misconception that many people have is that buying in bulk is cheaper. When bulk items and warehouse stores first started, this was often true. Manufacturers and retailers have realized that most people have this mindset and now price smaller size items for less per unit, making a larger profit of people blindly buying the bulk size. Using coupons for these smaller sizes can end up saving you more per unit.

This is but a start to saving with coupons.

We love You Discount Coupons

There are a few people in this world that don't have to worry about saving money when shopping, but most of us have to think about what we spend and how to save money once in a while. Paying full price for everything all of the time is not a good idea if you want to have money for retirement, sending your kids to college, or for taking that vacation you have been dreaming of taking. This means you should look around for some discount coupons for many things so that you rarely have to pay full price.

You might be surprised to see what you can get discount coupons for these days. You can save money on almost anything you can think of if you can find the right place. You can find deals on massage, tires, cars, maid and carpet services, and many travel items like airfare and car rentals. The savings can range from a few dollars to almost half off, though the really good deals are not quite as common as the smaller savings. Whatever the case, even saving a dollar on something is a good thing.

Probably one of the most common types of discount coupons you can find are the ones you can use for groceries. Coupons are tools that both manufacturers use to bring in new customers and to get new products on the minds of consumers. These are always in the Sunday paper, but they are not quite as numerous as they once were. Luckily though, there are many great sources for these discount coupons online, and you can usually download most of the coupons that they have for absolutely free. Paying for coupons sort of defeats the purpose anyway.

There is one thing you should think about when you are searching for discount coupons however. You should never use them for something that you don't need. They can be great for things you use, and for stocking up on items that might be cheaper in large quantities. However, many spend money on something they don't use just because they can save money. If you don't have a use for the item, you are throwing your money away. Keep the ones that are useful, and pass the others on to someone else. You may even want to have an exchange with a few people. Among you, you may find that they get used up.

The Basics of Bargain Shopping

If there is one thing everyone wants its to save money, and the one thing every good bargain shopper needs is patience. This can mean taking your time searching through a discount rack, or it can mean waiting for something expensive to come down in price or to go on sale. If you are one of those people that has to have all the newest stuff as soon as it hits the shelves, you may not be cut out to be a bargain shopper. However, if you don't mind buying Christmas cards for the next year on December 26th, you are ready to go.

When it comes to clothing, you have to be ready to search to save some money. A bargain is not a bargain if the clothes are no good. Just because a shirt is six dollars at Wal-Mart does not mean that it is a good bargain. You get the bargain when you find a high priced piece of apparel marked down to an affordable price. A bargain shopper knows that when shopping for clothing, you have to take some time to search through the discount rack. A lot of the stuff won't be anything you like, but you can find some great clothes if you look.

Another good way of shopping for cloths, or anything else, is to shop online. You can get some good deals on brand name merchandise if you keep looking. You do have to know how big yours and their sizes are. The best thing is to shop on sites that have sizing charts in inches when buying cloths. If you use your bargain sense you'll save money even when paying shipping. (example: I bought a tie online. The total including shipping was $15.95. For a tie the same colour at a local store the price was over $20.)

Remember to look at the clearance section in any store you visit, even if you aren't looking for anything at the moment. This is a great way to get your Christmas shopping done. A good bargain shopper will start buying things early, and then will look around all year for great prices on items they know their friends and family will love. They will never know you got their gift off a clearance shelf unless you tell them. These gifts are as good as any, but you just saved yourself some money by being a good bargain shopper.

Easter Trees and Decorations

Easter trees became a tradition in the United States just after the Civil War. In Germany, the Ukraine, and Austria, the trees have been around longer. They would decorate evergreens with painted eggs. Eggs represent rebirth, renewal, and the resurrection.

People use many different and colourful decorations on these trees. There are hand-painted eggs, miniature baskets with eggs, miniature straw hats with flowers attached, and a lot of ribbon used to hang each piece on the tree. Generally speaking, most people use a Forsythia or Cherry tree because the branches are the perfect ornament holders due to their crookedness.

Most of the eggs used have been blown out or had a pin inserted in one end. The yolk is then blown out and the shell painted. Packed away carefully, these fragile eggs can be used year after year.

Germans extend their decorations from the trees out to their gardens. So if you get to travel in Germany during Easter, you will see the live trees and the gardens decorated with colorful eggs. In some of their institutions such as an elderly rest home, you can find their foyers decorated with eggs, rabbits, and a large tree with baskets all around. If you look hard enough, you might spot a rooster and hen too.

If your tree is inside, make sure to decorate underneath as well. Place some rabbits and some egg baskets around the bottom of the tree. When the Easter Bunny comes, he will go fill the baskets with good surprises.

You can also adorn your tree with other decorative pieces. Chickens, roosters, little baskets, and eggs are always great. Find some garlands to help in the festive look. Use garlands made of small flowers or little rabbits. The sky's the limit. Most importantly, have fun with your children deciding what will go on your Easter tree.
